Dear Birthmother,

I am both excited and a little nervous to be writing this letter to you. I want to first say thank you for taking the time to view my website in hopes of getting to know me a little better. Just like other adoptive families I am wishing for a chance to start and be a family. We may all have different reasons as to why we chose adoption, however the love, hope and wish are still there for all of us.

About Me

In my spare time I've been taking golf lessons. It looks boring on TV but crazy hard in real life. I spend a lot of time with my girlfriends and cousins and I'm also part of a women’s group called Black Women Who Want More (BWWWM) also known as the diamonds. It's a bit like a sorority where we do fundraisers and help the community however; we are not affiliated with a college or university. I've met some really great women while in BWWWM.

I love music, everything from neo-soul to dancehall. I’m currently finishing my degree in Business Management. What I’ve been enjoying the most is decorating the nursery. One of my hobbies is watching the home décor channels to get different ideas on how to make my home even more comfortable for me, my friends and family and putting together the baby’s room has been full of excitement, creativity and challenges all rolled up into one. I was a little freaked out to pick out the crib myself so I had my mother and cousins come with me. We all agreed on a beautiful crib. I am extremely happy at the thought of being a parent and look forward to the joys of raising a child.

My Home

I'm currently living in Philadelphia. My home is in a gated townhouse community where there's a pool and a gym as well as a tennis court. I never miss an opportunity to use the pool in the summer or the gym year round. I really like my neighborhood. It has great restaurants which my girlfriends and I go to every Friday night for girls night out. We try to eat at a different restaurant every Friday. All my favorite stores are nearby from Saks Fifth Avenue to Target. It's a great area that is quiet enough to feel like you're not in the center of everything but you still don't feel like your out in the boonies, it’s the perfect balance for me.

My Family

Most of my family lives in New York, Brooklyn and Queens. I try to visit at least every other weekend. While I'm there I usually buy all the necessities for Caribbean cooking. It's kind of hard finding Caribbean markets in Philly so I stock up when I visit family. We are a low key bunch but love to travel and have fun. Last year we all traveled to New Orleans, Hawaii, Martinique and Haiti where I’m from. My family can be an odd bunch we all kind of have the same type of sarcastic sense of humor and when we get together we always laugh and have a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to help each other out in any situation. This child will have the love and support of a village of friends, best girl-friends, family and co-workers who are just as excited and happy as I am to be a part of his or her life. There are many people whom you have never met praying for you and your baby and you can trust that you will make the decision that is best for the both of you. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

My Promise

I don't make too many promises unless I know I can keep them so believe me when I say that I can promise you with all my heart that I will provide a safe and loving environment for your child. I value education and will encourage the development of his or her strengths. I hope to pass on values of respect for self and others, compassion and kindness, fun and humor as well as the love of culture and languages. I want to nurture their imaginations, teach them to be good people and help them realize their full potential. I'm open to future contact through letters, emails, and visits.
